1. Совместимость с языком описания страниц принтеров различных производителей. Принтеры Kyocera Mita эмулируют PCL, Line Printer, IBM Proprinter, DIABLO 630, EPSON LQ-850, PostScript (KPDL2).
2. Выполнение на одном компьютере программ, написанных для компьютера другого типа. Эмуляция заключается в точной имитации функционирования всех частей одного компьютера на другом. Она может быть выполнена на программном, микропрограммном или аппаратном уровнях. Используется при разработке ПО для новых типов компьютеров, а также для систем, написанных для уже неиспользуемых компьютеров.
